California International Marathon

This Sunday, December 7th, much of Sacramento will get a chance to witness one of the fastest marathons in the country. Originally founded in 1983 by the Sacramento Running Association, the California International Marathon has an epic 26 mile course that starts at Auburn-Folsom Road and winds its way down into downtown Sacramento. More than 9000 individual runners and relay team members are expected to participate.

Road closures in East Sac can be expected from about 8:00am to 1:15pm, completely looking down J Street for 5 hours. I learned my lesson a few years back and scheduled a home showing during this time and will never make that mistake again!

For more specifics on the exact roads affected, go to runcim.org/road-closures. Otherwise, if you’re just interested in more information about the marathon itself, start with the home page at runcim.org.
