38th Street Blood Drive Updates

Posted by on Sep 3, 2020 in East Sac, Volunteer | 0 comments

We are two weeks away from what would have been the next 38th Street Blood Drive but of course, COVID-19 has put a wrinkle into everyones plans. I’ll be making my regular blood donation at the downtown Vitalant location instead of enjoying hanging with East Sac neighbors and enjoying a little BBQ and good conversations around my donation. Alice and Pat, the wonderful hosts of the 38th Street blood drive encourage you to do the same.   Here is the email I received form them with the update:   Greetings Neighbors and Friends, Well, it’s what you have probably assumed already.  We will not be able to host our annual 38th Street blood drive this year due to the challenges of COVID-19.  We do hope to resume our drive in 2021.  In the meantime, please consider helping to save lives by making a blood donation at a Vitalant (formerly BloodSource) center or blood drive, where social distancing can effectively occur.  Below are some alternate locations to donate blood.   COVID-19 Antibody Testing – A COVID-19 antibody test is performed on all donations allowing Vitalant to identify donors who may be able to donate convalescent plasma to help patients fighting COVID-19. For more information: https://www.vitalant.org/antibodytest.   VITALANT BLOOD CENTERS Find a convenient Vitalant donation center at Vitalant Donor Center locations. Scroll down and choose California and then search for a city. To make an appointment book online or call Vitalant at 866-822-5663.   SACRAMENTO COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE Vitalant will be hosting a community blood drive at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento on Thursday, September 3 from 9:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Located at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel – 1230 J St., Sacramento.  To comply with social distancing practices, appointments are encouraged and we’re asking blood donors to make an appointment –  Click Here to Schedule an Appointment. Walk-ins will be accommodated if space allows.   PREPARE FOR YOUR DONATION Vitalant requires all donors to wear face coverings. Donors will be required to bring their own cloth-based mask or face covering.   Please bring a photo I.D.   Eat well and drink plenty of water prior to donation.   16 year olds must have a signed Vitalant parental consent form.   For parental consent forms go to parental consent forms.   Learn more about Vitalant’s response to COVID-19: www.vitalant.org/coronavirus   For eligibility questions or to schedule an appointment contact: Vitalant 866-822-5663. As always, we do this in honor of my wonderful mom, Rose Mary Lonczak.   We look forward to seeing you next year. Warm Regards, Alice and Pat...

East Sac 4th of July Parade of 2020 Cancelled

East Sac 4th of July Parade of 2020 Cancelled

Posted by on Jul 4, 2020 in 4th of July, East Sac, Events, Fab 40's | 0 comments

As you can probably already guess, the famous East Sac 4th of July parade is officially not happening this year. The need for social distancing and limiting the spread of the Coronavirus is greater than the need to have our traditional parade. As the story goes, this amazing tradition starting about 90 years ago when a handful of kids with a wagon and a dog circled the blocks up 41st Street, across J Street, down 42nd Street, along Folsom Blvd and back up 41st Street creating what has been the parade route that so many of us have loved ever since. My wife and I have often ridden our tandem, recumbent, five wheeled bike along the parade route over the past 12 years. This will be the first year that there will be no fire engines or any other official parade. The City of Sacramento isn’t issuing any street closure permits this year in an effort to encourage social distancing. It’s affecting the big parade and the smaller block parties around the city. For the first time in over twenty years, the block that I live on near McKinley park won’t be blocking off our street for our annual block party and instead we will each be celebrating in our front yards instead of gathered together as a cluster in the center of the block. I hope everyone has a safe and physically distanced 4th of July this year and that we get to see you all at the Fab 40’s parade next year!  ...

Pops in the Park 2020!

Pops in the Park 2020!

Posted by on Jun 5, 2020 in East Sac, Events, Pops in the Park | 0 comments

Or maybe it should be titled Pops Not in the Park 2020. Normally at this time of the year I would be blogging about Pops in the Park, when they will be playing in McKinley Park, what the bands will be and how much I look forward to hanging out with a 1,000 plus neighbors at these great events. This year they are having to reimagine them due to the COVID-19 Stay at Home orders and the need for social distancing. A huge gathering in our parks would not be a good idea right now. You can still join in some of the fun on June 6th starting at 5:30 for the first ever Virtual Pops in the Park. Jackie Green will be streaming from facebook and they will be taking donations for Women’s Empowerment. Check out more details on the official Pops in the Park page. I look forward to next years Pops even more with having to miss the social gathering of so many great friends and neighbors this...

My 10 Year Anniversary of Being a Real Estate Agent!

Posted by on Jan 24, 2020 in Uncategorized | 1 comment

I would like to take this moment to thank my 39 year old self.  Man, you were brilliant and you didn’t even know it. You took a huge leap of faith and it was the best decision ever! Saturday January 25th marks the 10 year anniversary of getting my California Real Estate license. It has been the best career choice that I have ever made!  I originally resisted it because I didn’t want to be in “Sales” but I found I could be a Consultant and Advocate for my clients instead of a salesman. I resisted it because I wanted a steady paycheck and the stability of an office job. I found that I thrive in the self employed environment, more so than I ever did in my corporate job.  I love what I do and I love all the clients that I get to help. Over these past ten years I’ve closed 248 purchases and sales for my clients. I’ve been in the top 10% of Sacramento agents ever since my first full year and most years I’m in the top 1% or 2%. Most of those transactions are for repeat clients or for people referred to me from past clients. Best of all, many of my clients have become good friends over the years.  I have the honor of working for one of the most respected real estate companies in Sacramento. Dunnigan Realtors, the Swayne family and my amazing fellow Dunnigan agents make it a blast to do this work during the best of times and make it more than bearable during the worst of times.  I never would have made the leap without the amazing support of my wife Cheryl who encouraged me to get my license, to quit my past job and do this full time, to strive to provide the best service I could imagine and to achieve this level of success without paying for any traditional advertising. Best of all, she also encourages me to take amazing vacations and get away from the work as often as possible.  I can’t see myself doing any other work. I truly have found my...
