East Sac Pops In The Park 2019

East Sac Pops In The Park 2019

One of my favorite East Sac Events in coming up quick with Pops in The Park 2019 starting on June 1st! Due to the upcoming water vault  project in McKinley Park we won’t have a concert there this year and instead East Portal Park will get to double up with two concerts this year. As usual, the music will be great, there will be plenty of food and drink vendors and even a free valet bike parking. The proceeds benefit local project and it’s a great way to spend the day lazing around with hundreds of your neighbors.  Concerts start at 6:00 but the socializing and snagging the best seating areas start well before that. 36th Annual California International Marathon

36th Annual California International Marathon

Posted by on Nov 29, 2018 in East Sac, Events | 0 comments

This Sunday December 2nd will be the 36th Annual California International Marathon! Get ready to cheer on 10,000 runners completing this marathon through our amazing city. Also get ready for some serious road closures! If you thought the Run to Feed the Hungry made it tough to navigate the streets, you haven’t tried to cross town when the CIM is going on. For us East Sac residents, the key times are the closing of J Street from 8:00 am until 1:30 pm. This closes J Street from the bridge to Fair Oaks Blvd all the way to Alhambra Blvd where the race takes a little jog to L Street and closes down L Street all the way to the finish line at the California State Capitol. Come out and cheer on the CIM which is certified and sanctioned by USATF and is a Boston Marathon and US Olympic Trials Marathon...

The Taste of East Sac 2018

The Taste of East Sac 2018

The Taste of East Sac, one of my favorite events of the year, is this weekend on Saturday July 14th! This is the 10th year of the event. I’ve gone every year for the past 5 years and it just keeps getting better and better.  More than 40 local restaurants, breweries and wineries will be offering samples of the delicious treats that they serve up in their local establishments and it will be more than enough food and drink for everyone. There will be music, a silent auction and over 500 of your neighbors and friends mingling at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church located at 600 Alhambra Boulevard right across from McKinley Library. The event starts at 6:00 and ends at 9:00 so don’t be late for this...

East Sac 4th of July Parade 2018

East Sac 4th of July Parade 2018

Posted by on Jun 28, 2018 in 4th of July, East Sac, Events, Fab 40's | 0 comments

The weather has heated up and summer is almost here! We’re just a week away from the biggest neighborhood block party of the year.  The East Sac 4th of July parade is a great way to start off your summer celebrations. Come and hang out with hundreds of neighbors and see all the amazing ways that people show their festive red, white and blue spirits.  Unless things have changed from all of the past years, the parade will start at 11:00 on 41st Street just south of J Street. The block will be packed all the way down to M Street and probably even half way down the next block.  Once the parade starts it will do a big loop onto J Street, down 42nd Street, around Folsom Boulevard and then finish where it started on 41st Street. Then it will breakout into a large block party with live bands and people milling in the streets and visiting with their neighbors. When we call it a parade what we really mean is a bunch of festive neighbors ambling along together and a few people sitting on the sidewalks or front lawns watching the masses of revealers doing the slowest walk around the block as possible.  Do as we do after the morning parade and go have a great block party and get to know your neighbors better or make your way to Cal Expo in the evening (or somewhere with a good view of the sky above Cal Expo) and enjoy the fireworks show.  I love the community that we have here in East Sac and knowing more of my neighbors here than I have in all of my pervious homes combined. Given that I’m never leaving East Sac or my home now that I’ve discovered them, the number of neighbors I know will continue to grow over the years due to great events like this.  Here are some pictures from last year taking by the incredibly talented Carlos Castille of http://www.castillephotography.com! ...

Apparently business has been good for me this year because it has kept me distracted from my blog and I’ve missed the first Pops in the Park of 2018! June 2nd was in East Portal Park with IdealTeam. June 9th will be in Bertha Henschel Park with AKA Live. June 16th will be in McKinley Park featuring Jessica Malone June 23rd will finish out the series at Glen Hall Park with The Count. All of the concerts begin at 6:00pm and as usual, there is free bike valet parking if you don’t want to fight for a parking space and don’t live close enough to walk in. I hope to see a lot of my neighbors when I make it out for some Pops in the Park fun this...
