30th Annual National Night Out

This Tuesday evening, East Sac neighborhoods will join in with the 30th annual National Night Out. The evening has been designed as a way for neighborhoods to fight back against crime as strong, organized communities. Last year, more than 37 million people in 15,000 communities across the U.S. participated, and even more are anticipated this year.
From 6pm to 10pm, East Sac communities will participate by throwing block parties, cookouts, ice cream socials, etcetera. (City block party fees are waived for the evening.) At these gatherings, police can visit to help educate about drug and crime prevention and various area anticrime programs.
The further reaching hope is for improved community relations, a stronger partnership between neighborhoods and law enforcement and an altogether resounding shout at criminals that their activities will be met with a fight. For more information about this event, contact Lindsey Mendoza at lmendoza@pd.cityofsacramento.org or jbonner@pd.cityofsacramento.org.
Of course, it is also just a great way to get to know your neighbors and a good excuse to sit outside in this perfect weather and share some good eats and drinks with them.
